Netbook Refelction

For 3 years now I have owned my own netbook, the journey & the wifi connections have been fabulous its helped me get onto my Google Drive & Gmail account. This year the wifi it has been alot faster than before. One thing I have discovered is how fast you can flick through places. There are different workspaces, for example (Hold Ctrl & Alt then press the arrows).
Throughout this year my teacher has taught me to learn & understand more of the Maori Language. On netbooks & Maori. Another thing I've learnt by myself this year is probably the way to Podcast & be able to get along with others. This one my friends Kobe (check out his blog) throughout the year he been my role model just because he's quiet, not a loud mouth or a show off.
A few weeks ago my mum told me to man up, guess what I said back "NO" then I started to get better. One of the talent's have is the passion to play league every Saturday I think learning off my netbook helps me alot. Like watching videos off Youtube. In ways how I like to learn is like working in groups of 2 below or either by myself. Next year my goal is to type, read, & write better & improve real well. And to get better at rugby.

My Weekend at Paihia.

During the weekend my family & I went to a wedding in Pahia, it was a  4h drive from Auckland to Paihia. The ride was pretty boring . I hardly enjoyed it.
As We entered Kawakawa & I started to feel  car sick. It was boring but then there was food in the boot. 3km left......... As we drove into Paihia I got out of the car & jumped into the ocean & I had a swim.
Then we went back to our hotel at about 8pm & went to my cousin in laws Fathers house for dinner.Saturday  The Hotel we where staying at was the KingsGate hotel & the wedding was up the road, like almost a 5m walk to Te Ti beach. The reception was awesome food everywhere, drinks on the tab. It made my day, only because I was hungry as.
Opposite my hotel there was my cousins hotel & mine so I went there & had another feed then went for a swim. I nearly sank to the ground cos I was so full . I enjoyed my weekend. It was a experience of a life time.. At Shippeys there fish was oily & Fatty but I still ate it......Sunday. It was our last see of Paihia We went to a breakfast & restaurant called Upperdeck.  Breakfast was awesome there.

Nelson Mandela

Rolihlahla Mandela (a.k.a) Nelson Mandela was a man who was not only a hero to his people of South Africa but to the entire world, He was a politician, a leader who changed the world. He was served the President of South Africa from 1994 through to 1999. Nelson was born on the July 18th 1918 in a small village by the name of Mveso the chief his father (Gadla Mphakanyiswa).

Nelson was a brave & courage's person, & he was a really humble man. He was the first black president of South Africa, the name Rolihlahla that was given to him meant "Troublemaker" but he wasn't really one, 27 years Nelson served in jail for trying to make his racism. A great man he was I reckon he was probably the best President out of all president of the world.

As he got older he started to get a sickness a really bad one. Nelson was a humble man and when he went to jail he never complained about why how he got into prison. When he got out of jail he campaigned straight after & tried to make everybody treated the same. So racism was a no no. A few years later he became the president & Changed the world.

"Do better than your best" he used to say. He died on the 6th of december 2013 at the age of 95.

3 Highlights of The Year

1. Rugby League: The reason why I enjoyed League this year is because I scored about 4 tries 1 runaway, I also enjoyed it because we joined together with Bailey Road to play with them & I had fun playing together.  Especially our coach Tyson Puru thanks for that awesome day.

2. Fifia has to be another highlight of the year, because first of all I was in the Niuean Group representing my colours. And I got to preform in front of a crowd more than 200 people. I really enjoyed it especially because I got to watch everyone else's performace.

3. I really enjoyed the production because I played the guitar in the band, We performed "Hey Jude" by The Beatles. The night was anticipating & the build-up to the production was fantastic & the performances we flawless. Every worked acording to plan.

Thanks For reading my highlights of the year.

If You could say anything to the world what would it be ?

On a beautiful day Joshua Iosefo came into our class & asked our literacy What Spoken word was? some things that he explained about the subject where. Our class had different ideas to what it could it be, my thoughts on the subject where that Spoken Word could be a performance of art based on words.

If I was to stand up in front of the world & share my thoughts on what some of the worlds problems or & New Zealand's problems would to stop child abuse because it doesn't help the child & the family as well. If I had the opportunity to speak I would talk about how much parents need to stop abusing and tell children to stop stressing out their parents & start to listen. I'm just saying that because I have experienced that but now I'm a changed person, I would just say to my parents. Currently I am now enjoying my life you should too!

Cross Country Fun Run.

Yesterday our school had our Cross Country event, the crowd was very encouraging. All the senior school had moved to the shade underneath the trees. "Year 7 girls" said Mr Jacobsen, in my head I was thinking of not running because I had the butterflies & I was scared that might become the last person running. I started stretching when I was scared as. Then I heard "Year 7 boys" I started Jumping & lining up.
On the starting line I was getting ready at I was putting my feet together because I was really really cold. Mr Burt explained what to do and when to start running, a few minutes later when the first girl came through the posts on the bottom field Mr Burt said "On your Marks, Get set" when he said get set. I was just eager to start sprint but that would be embarrassing. Then "Hooter sounded" then everybody started sprinting but me I was jogging then I started sprinting. Then I was tiered.
2nd lap was on.. It was my  turn too slide while Miss Walters was cheering me on to slide I accelerated boom jumped up high & slid. I ended up dirty I smelt like horse poo. Then I quickly got up & started running again my legs I think my legs got dirty in under 3min. I was encouraged the whole way through the run & I loved it.

The Three Little Hobbits

Once upon a time, there lived Three Little Hobbits. Their names were Fa and Tee and they had a older brother called Foi living in an asylum. lived with their mum in an old cottage in the forest. One day the three little hobbits mum decided that they were now too old to live with her. So they decided to go their separate ways and build their own houses.

The oldest hobbit (Fa) went to Pak n Save and bought a ton of steak and then headed into the maybury bush. He started to build his house out of meat. He thought that he might be able to attract animals to his house so that he could trap them for food.

Meanwhile the youngest hobbit (Winnie) was running from an asylum cutting down trees to make his hut out of wood. Half way through the job he was about to place a piece of bark onto his roof & accidently slid the bark across his hand and got a really deep splinter & had a mental breakdown. Since Foi is in deep depression he stops building his house and leaves into the forest. Tee goes into the forest to find wood to make a fire, while looking Tee comes across Foi’s house. Tee see’s that Foi’s house is unfinished and feels bad, he then continues to finish building Foi’s house. When he finishes building the house he decides to stay there.

The old man is walking through the forest when he suddenly comes across Foi’s house. He is so jealous that the house is beautiful that he decides to blow it down. The old man tries his best to blow the house down but fails because he has asthma, so he uses his inhaler. The old man blows the house down and leaves the scene in fear of getting caught. He then goes back to the retirement village and on the way loses his breath, he reaches for his inhaler and presses the pump button. The pump button releases no air which means that the asthma pump is now finished, he used all the air in the inhaler when he blew down the house. “Ahhh cough cough cough help help helpppp” yells the old man, he then falls to the ground and shakes and eventually dies.

Literacy Rotation

For the past week all the Team 5 classes have been doing Literacy Rotation. The Team 5 teachers came up with the most amazing idea & split classes into Literacy groups, I'm in A1 out of all 3 groups. Ms Tito & Miss King are doing some creative are & MTV videos that are presented at the end of the week. The main artist we were focusing on was Michael Jackson & the song that me & my group did last week was smooth criminal we thought that the song was so cool.
I really liked the song because its a good song to animate & make it was really fun making the movie, because we used I can Animate it was what I think my first time using that application. These past 2 weeks we have been constantly starting school at 8:30. Things have really changed.

This term we have been running 2k's around the reserve. So far my personal bes is probably 16.00 but I dont think it is. I have really enjoyed the Fun run because It gets me fit & gets me ready for the 5k run we are doing at the end of the term. Us Year 7 & 8's are enjoying the run! Keep up for some more blog posts.

IM A FINALLIST! (narrative)

Wow. Ive actually made it this far to the cooking competition. I can't describe how hard this will be I hope its not to hard. But I've completed the other task now its time for this task I have to complete it.
I might cook Lasagne on gravy, mmmmm NICE! But I have to cook something to impress the judges. I hope there not to judgemental. Lets all just hope I win.
Im so under pressure I only go 90 minuets on the clock now its time to plan. The only thing rushing through my head is hurry up SHAYNE! You can do this but another part of my body is saying "NAH
NAH, your'e gonna lose". Nek minute. On with the story, I reckon me & my partner up against the most hardest groups in the competition at this moment. I have to WIN, TODAY not tomorrow.
The last minute in the cook off. & I have just started plating up my food. 4 judges For plates. So I quickly get a scoop of my Lasagne & lay it carefully on my plate with the gravy on top. 5, 4, 3,2,1.. Bam time felt like it just went like that. "PHEW" Luckily I plated up quickly... Im sweating like a pig...

Rugby League Skills

 photo IMG_4537_zps5531ffb8.jpg
For the past 2 weeks we have been learning basic skills on how to play Rugby League. We have been late because we never knew what time our session was, but now we know. I kinda already know how to play league but there were some skills I didn't know. One of the basic moves was the Punt Kick, the postion of the ball haas to be with the tip of the ball facing your foot.
Another skill we used was the pass. There are two ways to pass the ball, One way is the Spiral pass which obviously looks like a spiral. The other pass we learnt was just a float pass, well we didn't actually learn it we just passed it normally. Keep tuned for my next League Post. :D

WILL.IAM

Last Thursday a really special and famous person arrived in Auckland before the day he had his concert presented by The Hallenstein Brothers his name was WILL.IAM. I really couldn’t believe that he came to our school as a member of the Black eyed Peas & a solo artist as well.
He presented a cheque to us and the other schools in the Manaiakalani $100.000.00 as a gift to all the schools to help us with our learning our netbooks. It was a really big Koha (Gift) & we got told that he traveled around the world to look for a school with good learning & out of all the schools in the world he picked us.

He shared a bit of information of his early childhood life about how hard his life was living back then. I was really Inspired by his story, how his only wish in the world was to take care of his mum & start a fresh new life with his mum. I loved his story it really Inspired me with how he became an artist. At the back all you could see was just cameras kind of like a paparazzi .

! What my friends say about ME!!

On the last day of Term 1 we played a game. Ms Tito gave us a piece of paper with a strip of tape,  and she stuck it on our backs.Everybody got a piece of paper with a strip of tape and stuck it on our backs. Everybody got a piece. We had to write something positive about someone or they had to write something positive about.
One of things that someone said about me was that they said I look like a Unicorn, I have a feeling that Andrea wrote that -_- I seriously want to but I dont have a horn looking thing on the top of my head. I didn't really understand why someone would write that but, I kinda do wish I looked like a Unicorn.
Another Thing someone said about me was that They liked my hair. I love my hair too:D.

On the very first day we just sat in Room 21 I didn't know the song that we are singing especially the verse in the song its really really fast. I starting to get the hang of the song its really getting easy now, even the verse that use to be very hard but now, I really enjoy the fact that Fiafia nights in 7 more days until the Special night!!!!
Just yesterday we were making our Rafia (skirts) & had a bit of a small rehearsal.

2013 Highlights so far.

My highlight of this year was finding out that everyday after Morning Tea except for Mondays because we have Maori with Ms Tito(Our class tutor).  One of my favourite games has to be Capture the Flag because I've only Captured it once, & that time nobody saw me & it was actually Capture the Bat. The last time we played that game was about 3 weeks ago & I haven't been enjoying P.E so far , but I'm so lucky to even have P.E after Morning Tea.
Ms Tito is got to be my Favourite teacher because she really acknowledge's her culture alot especially her Pounamu(Greenstone). And because she's really cool, like one time when we played a game called Throw the Chicken I threw it all the way into the tree close to our gate & it got stuck but Mary climbed up the tree & quickly reached & grasped the chicken & we still lost.
Another Highlight for this year was getting to compete in the Auckland Champs for the Year 7 boys Softball team, we came 6th in Auckland out of 8 teams in the competition. I was play at Base 1 & out of the whole competition I had gotten 4 outs. Mr Somerville was another teacher I liked & he was our Coach.

Picking Harakeke(FLAX)

Last week on Thursday afternoon we had the opportunity head down to Omaru Creek to cut down some flax. Before we got to cut down some Flax Ms. T gave us some rules, Here where the RULES: we were not allowed to cut down the Pepi(Baby) the plant in the middle, we could not cut the Harakeke the was on either side of the Pepi because those are the guardians of the baby.It is the Matua(Father) Whaea(Mother). Flax is really is taonga like (Paunamu), o Maori ancestors , because it helped Maori people to make Kete(Bag) traditional skirts such as Piu-Piu.
Not everyone got a Pocket Knife each but some of our students got handed a Knife and rushed off, My friend Nathanial came back with a huge piece were where all jealous because he had a really big piece. Then finally I got handed the Knife off I went some people where playing around. I was seeking around to where most people had cut thier Flax. Sadly time was up and we had to go I never got a piece of flax.
photo IMG_0167_zps9e2e4f98.jpgI didn't get the chance to make a flower made out of Flax but I reckon everyone else enjoyed this wonderful experience. Check out our class Blog for some more amazing Graphics & amazing Writing.

Tuakana/Teina(Big brother or sister, or Little brother or sister)

For the past 3 weeks, Room 19 have been going to our school library & reading with the students from Room 9, So far this year I have enjoyed reading with the little kids.. It is the first time that I have worked or read with smaller kids, but I actually enjoy it alot. Have you ever read with other kids from your school?
The reason why we read with Room 9 is to encourage them to read alot & to interact & cooperate. My partners name is Kosini he loves to read but only sometimes, he likes comics but we couldn't find any. Its really cool reading because if they make a mistake we can correct them by telling them to sound it out or if they cannot sound it out we have to say it our selves. The way I feel about this experience it not only helps them read to me it really helps me to be able to read to them as well.
Its really fun I cannot wait until next week.

P.E.S School Picnic

Just another casual Friday when Ms. Tito calls the roll & we get straight into our work but not on Friday the 1st of March, It was our picnic I totally forgot I only brought a bottle of water on the way to school but no enough lunch but I survived.
photo IMG_3760_zps839821e0.jpg  Heading over to touch,   I got to the field the ball got passed to me straight away but I got touched.  My team was down by 2 tries, & we couldn't seem to get a try, but Jabez ran through the gap & ran fast as from Jessiah, he tried to catch him but he couldn't so that made us 1 try behind, until Potaua set up a try for Lorenzo and he gased it. I think I was the only person that at lest tried to catch him, he was too fast.
(RippaRugby)  The Next game I was really excited to play was Rippa Rugby. Straight away Taniela gave me the tag & I quickly ran and joined the game just about when I was going to score a try one of the little boys tagged me. I tried setting up a few tries but they all failed. Rippa Rugby was the highlight of the day for me because after a few minuets Frankies Dad Abel said" STOP, lets play some League then all of the boys where excited because we had a referee.
(Food) I forgot my lunch & I had 2 carton's Orange Juice in my bag with 2 packets of Grain waves.
That was the best Picnic ever I felt amazing, after that windy but cold day a the Pt England Reserve.

Compassion, Honesty, Love & Tolerance

What is Compassion? This year Pt England School is learning to be “ Better together” Kia pai Te Kotahi”. In room 19 we have been investigating Love, compassion, honesty Learning about Compassion and tolerance. Ms Tito (our teacher) gave us an assignment to select one of these words to compose a definition and present an example of what it means to our class. The reason we are learning about these things are to help us understand ourselves and others so we can be a better person today and in the future.
